Cost
Is there any hidden/ maintenance costs?
The contract price for a Corona Energy AMR solution includes all normal maintenance, data collection, data presentation and management costs ensuring you peace of mind. Any additional costs relating to installation will be identified before works are done and discussed with a view to minimising the outlay whilst maximising the benefits.
Would it save me money?
AMR is widely considered to provide energy savings around 10% when used proactively - potentially much more. This is before the benefits of accurate modelling for procurement or simplified administration are taken into account. If you also purchase your gas from Corona Energy you would no longer receive estimated invoices, ensuring your billed consumption will be accurate. This will vastly reduce the administration costs to manage your gas supply.
Do my AMR charges change if I change suppliers?
No, the AMR contract is separate to your gas supply. Should your gas supply be with a third party, you will continue to receive your AMR service from Corona Energy, ensuring you have the same high standard of data collection irrespective of your choice of gas supplier.
Installation
Installation Process
The AMR unit is installed next to the existing meter and connected to the pulse output. The device then records the pulses generated by the meter and forwards this data to Corona Energy.
This data is then presented to you on a secure dedicated website, which also provides analysis of your energy usage and a means to download the data yourself for your own further review.
Where will the AMR unit be installed?
The AMR unit Corona Energy provides is accredited safe to the highest UK & EU requirements stipulated (Zone 0 under ATEX) and as such can be installed next to the gas meter.
Does installation necessitate an interruption in my supply?
No, unless the meter requires replacement.
How quickly will it be installed after the contract is signed?
As soon as you provide us with the contact and access details for your premises we can immediately arrange appointments for our engineers to visit at the most convenient time for you. These can be within only a few days of signing the contract. The installations themselves generally take less than thirty minutes, depending on access to your gas meter.
For large portfolios of meters Corona Energy will arrange for a rapid installation program and provide regular updates on progress.
Who will install the AMR unit?
Qualified engineers appointed by Corona Energy carry out installation of the AMR unit.
Will I own the AMR unit?
No, the AMR unit remains the property of Corona Energy. We work with the manufacturers to ensure that each unit is warranted and operational, saving you any concerns regarding asset management.
Does it require service /maintenance? If so are there any charges associated with this?
The units are very reliable and as such require very little routine maintenance, the cost of which is included within the contract. If a unit were to fail then we will replace it with a new one with no additional cost to you.
How do they configure the AMR unit?
At the time of installation, the AMR unit is configured with the existing meter's specification and the most appropriate SMS network service provider for that specific meter location is established.
Meter
Will I need a new meter?
Not unless the existing meter is not pulse-enabled and an alternative technical solution proves unsatisfactory.
Do I need meter owner acceptance?
Yes, but Corona Energy would normally obtain this.
What happens when there is a meter exchange on a meter with AMR unit?
The AMR unit will be re-installed by Corona Energy under our call out terms.
I have a sub deduct meter, does an AMR unit need to be installed on this as well as the prime meter?
It would not be necessary to monitor the volume of gas passing through the sub deduct meter as this would already have been tracked passing through the primary meter.
Some customers may see an advantage in monitoring the volume passing through a sub deduct meter in regards to the energy's end use in comparison with the other volume passing through the primary meter. The AMR unit can be used in either scenario without complication.
Can AMR unit be installed on sub meters?
Yes
Can AMR unit be applied to meters with correctors?
Yes, the AMR unit will configured accordingly during installation and is usually connected to both the corrector meter and the uncorrected meter to report both figures.
Customer Services
Will I see a change in my service after AMR is installed?
If you are a Corona Energy gas customer your estimated bills for AMR equipped meters will automatically be a thing of the past and so reconciliations would no longer be required.
How do I ensure AMR reads are used on my invoices?
If you are a Corona Energy gas customer we will ensure that the AMR reads are used on your invoices. If you purchase your gas from another supplier we can assist you in ensuring the readings are used on your invoices.
Do I need additional software to understand the data?
No, Corona Energy will provide you with the data in a user-friendly format via our website. Any current major Internet browser software such as MS Explorer or Mozilla Firefox and internet access is sufficient. Files can be exported from the website in txt and CSV formats which are compatible with most commercially available software, such as MS Office should you wish to analyse the data further.
If the battery needs to be changed, who does that?
Corona Energy would arrange the replacement of batteries as part of the services included in the contract
Who provides me the information?
Corona Energy will provide you with the information via our website.
How will faults with an AMR unit be identified?
Corona Energy monitor the data received from your meter. If no data, or inaccurate data, is received, it is immediately investigated.
What does the AMR devices send - gas usage figures or meter readings?
Both. Each device transmits a daily meter reading and half hourly gas volume totals which Corona Energy converts into energy values to be presented on our website.
What do we need to do when there is an emergency on a site with AMR fitted?
As is always the case call National Grid on their Emergency number 0800 111 999.
