What does the job entail?

The Direct Debit Controller will join a fast paced and target driven team, reporting directly to the Credit Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team in a new role, taking responsibility for a large portfolio of business customers who pay by Direct Debit.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a large portfolio of business customers on Direct Debit (Gas and Electricity)
  • Liaise with customers over the telephone and email resolving any queries
  • Calling all bounced/cancelled Direct Debit customers
  • Manage manual Direct Debit claims, contacting customers to agree large claims
  • Ensuring all ad-hoc payments and payment plans are kept up to date
  • Query management when blocking DDs and overdue debt
  • Audit and work complaints and query log
  • Set up new direct debits in the system
  • Report weekly on direct debits taken and to be taken to senior management and team
  • Any other duties as defined by management

Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience working in credit control / accounts receivable
  • Previous experience working with direct debit bank files
  • Excellent organisational and attention to detail skills
  • Previous experience of analysing large sets data
  • Previous experience of building internal and external relationships
  • A high degree of numeracy and literacy
  • Be able to prioritise workload effectively
  • Can do and proactive attitude
  • Intermediate user of Microsoft Word and Excel (Vlook Ups)
  • Knowledge of either the gas or electricity industry desirable but not essential
