What does the job entail?

The Financial Accountant role will be responsible for managing the delivery of timely and accurate monthly and statutory reporting, including month-end P&L reconciliations and delivering various finance-led efficiency projects. They will be the lead interface with the Shareholder to ensure a good understanding of their systems and being a key liaison with the relevant teams across the business. This is a fast paced environment that requires an individual who is proactive, able to work on their own initiative, full of drive as well as having the ability to bring new ideas to the table to assist the efficiency of the team.  The role will be based between our office in Croxley and our Shareholder’s office in London. This is an ideal opportunity for a qualified CA / ACCA candidate with up to 3-4 years PQE and an interest or experience in the banking industry.

Duties & Responsibilities:

On a daily / monthly basis you will be responsible for the posting and reconciliation of monthly management and statutory figures as reported to the parent company and will act as a contact point for the shareholders who have queries regarding Corona Group performance. You will also be responsible for:

  • Developing a strong business understanding over time and use it to provide context to accounting and financial matters
  • IFRS based financial reporting for the seven legal entities; preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting them with well-developed analytical reviews
  • Review of the financial performance of the entities on a regular basis (especially during the year end process) and presenting to the senior leaders in the finance and tax team
  • Preparation and review of quarterly dividend cycles including preparation for Board Meetings
  • Regular compliance activities which form part of ongoing monitoring and control – monthly financial review of entity balances, attestation of all balances, impairment reviews, preparation of financial reports for Board Meetings
  • Review and forecasting of all shareholder related regulatory costs and reporting requirements
  • Assisting Group Tax in their preparation of tax returns / information supporting the tax returns
  • Identify and proactively resolve issues that could result in financial misstatements and classification errors
  • Focus on personal development through training, constant learning within the role and increase in business knowledge
  • Very positive work attitude including willing to work some longer hours during peak periods and assisting with other ad-hoc team projects and deliverables
  • Any other reasonable duties as defined by management

Skills & Experience:

You will be confident in your communication and have the ability to represent the team in dealings with stakeholders, internal and external to Corona. You’re a proactive individual who will not only follow the procedures but will actively contribute to the development of the internal control environment and the efficiency of the group. You will also have:

  • CA / ACCA qualified with up to 3-4 years post qualification experience – negotiable
  • Extremely proactive and a general go-getter
  • Strong numerical ability and high attention to detail
  • The ability to work to tight deadlines
  • The ability to think laterally and problem solve
  • Experience in banking / finance industries would be preferred
  • Experience in energy industry would be beneficial
