What does the job entail?

The purpose of the Market Risk and Customer Optimisation Analyst is to own the Customer Optimisation services provided to key account customers and support the sales teams in the promotion and delivery of those products and services. Additionally, own the evaluation and management of the energy market risk on Corona Energy’s, developing and enacting appropriate hedging strategies. Lastly, produce market insight and fundamental analysis to support the formation and delivery of Corona Energy’s strategies, manage and control
its risks and deliver against its financial targets.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support Key Account Sales and Business Development Team in preparing tenders and prices for prospect and current customers
  • Support the Key Account Sales and Business Development Team in preparing and presenting customer position reports, market updates and risk management strategies and consultation
  • Prepare and issue, for internal and external consumption market update reports
  • Support and drive the development of new products to deliver Corona Energy’s growth and financial targets
  • Monitor and evaluate the energy market and calculate the required risk premiums for dynamic and bespoke customer pricing
  • Prepare risk valuations and metrics using historic data, scenarios or simulation based methodologies
  • Prepare and enact hedging strategies required to optimise Corona Energy’s portfolio and minimise the risk to the delivery of it financial targets.
  • Prepare and present internal Risk Reports on Corona Energy customer and market gas and power positions, which would include such measures and VaR, GMaR, P&Ls,
  • From time to time, any other activity deemed necessary for Corona Energy within the Pricing, Risk and Reporting team

  • Excellent modelling and programming skills. (VBA, SQL, Python, PowerBI, etc)
  • Experience in market risk, procurement or trading in an energy environment is required
  • Able to measure, interpret and articulate commodity risk across internal and key customer positions is required
  • Experience of quantifying and modelling market risks is required
