What does the job entail?

The Power Operations Manager ensures the commercial and regulatory aspects of electricity portfolio management are delivered to consistently achieve industry performance standards, minimise value erosion to the business and deliver an exceptional service to our customers. This involves proactive portfolio management and continuous improvement of processes to support Corona Energy’s growth strategies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day to day people management of the Power Operations Team: regular performance management reviews, 1-2-1s, 360 reviews, conflict resolution, regular team meetings, training and development plans
  • Create and lead a continuous improvement framework to enhance our customer experience, improve regulatory performance and support Corona’s growth strategies
  • Ensure all industry performance and regulatory compliance standards and relevant business KPISs are achieved
  • Analyse and review performance information in order to analyse trends and identify training needs, ensuring that improvements are continually made and performance is measured consistently
  • Produce and present regular performance updates to senior management on KPI performance/departmental initiatives/regulatory projects drawing out key insights and presenting recommendations
  • Liaise with the Regulation and Compliance Manager to implement any changes in industry regulation that impact the power operations function
  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of operational risk controls and recommend effective improvements.   Identify and address any emerging regulatory, operational and commercial risks
  • Identify opportunities/improvements to add value to the business, document and summarize any analytical findings with strategy recommendations
  • Evaluate 3rd party vendor services and budgetary offering and negotiate favourable contractual and financial terms to reduce risk and ensure best possible value and service
  • Build and develop strategic relationships with 3rd party service providers ensuring strong governance so compliance/regulatory standards are met
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the wider Line Manager group to improve end to end business processes and support scale growth of the power portfolio
  • Presenting to a variety of group sizes (for example, team meetings and staff engagements)
  • Any other reasonable duties as defined by management

Skills & Experience:

  • Working knowledge of UK energy industry
  • Successfully managing teams and cross-business relationships to delivery key business KPIs
  • Ability to communicate to customers, senior management and external parties
  • Leading a successful team to achieve targets to tight deadlines
  • Working for an energy supplier back-office operations department, preferably with electricity knowledge
  • Leading and managing projects to a successful outcome
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Strategically aligned, can see the bigger picture and can align delivery to business goals
  • Commercially focussed, able to set and operate within budget and deliver commercially viable projects
  • Proactive, flexible, self-driven influencer
  • Strong time management, organisational and planning skills
  • Change management experience and applying this to lead people through change
  • Proven experience managing and tracking a budget and bottom line impact
