What does the job entail?

The Senior Programme Manager will lead all aspects of an ongoing IT Transformation Programme. You will ensure the program is delivered to a consistently high standard, within budget, that objectives are met on time, suiting the company’s image and meets professional standards and industry regulations. The Senior Programme Manager will ensure the programme is delivered according to the processes and standards as set out and agreed by all parties and in line with the construct of existing contracts etc.

Project ‘Lego’ has been established to deliver a dual fuel ERP Utility system with modular CRM, Pricing, Trading and forecasting solutions.  The role requires the management of both internal resources within a matrix environment in addition to multiple Third Party Suppliers to deliver the programme. This is a £20m Project over 10 years.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of all aspects of the programme to time, cost and quality
  • Drive the Programme delivery and workstreams, internally and externally according to the schedule & quality required
  • Own risks / issues / assumptions / dependencies and develop plans to address / mitigate
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration between all parties to deliver contracted obligations
  • Ensure effective management of Global Third Party Suppliers to deliver against plan
  • Ensure that potential challenges are de-risked and/or options for solutions offered in order to protect the delivery schedule and the business at all times
  • Own and deliver all Program Governance
  • Run the Programme processes and governance in conjunction with the workstream leads
  • Own program planning for visibility of key milestones and progress
  • Ensure the Program objectives are met and ensure team members meet them
  • Own and manage the Project Budget and Plan, preparing regular reports
  • Own the e2e Plan and make revisions as required to ensure external dates & quality/expectations are met
  • Manage Internal and External Stakeholders to agreed Communication Plan
  • Seek continuous improvement and actively assess lessons learnt and apply changes where necessary
  • Development of Resource Plan, securing resource and managing scheduling conflicts
  • Manage scope creep and prepare Business Case to support new requirements
  • Champion Project Management disciplines and provide processes and structure
  • Own risks / issues / assumptions / dependencies and develop plans to address / mitigate
  • Own and manage the Project Budget and Plan, preparing regular reports for management
  • Ensure relevant and timely reporting for all stakeholder forums, including the Programme Steering board and the Programme ExCo board

Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive Systems Integration experience having delivered complex high transaction systems & SaaS/PaaS (Software-Platform As A Service)
  • Proven experience of dealing with CxO level stakeholders
  • Delivered programmes in excess of £20m
  • Managed internal direct / matrix teams in excess of 50
  • Champion Project Management disciplines and provide processes and structure
  • Program Management Skills or Certification (e.g. MSP / APM / Agile / Prince 2, ITIL)
  • High levels of proficiency in programme planning & tools, specifically Microsoft Project
  • Extensive Agile and Waterfall experience and ability to manage interchangeably
  • Utilities knowledge desirable
  • Track record in delivering CRM/ERP solutions desirable
  • Strategic Thinker capable of navigating between Tactical, Strategic and Commercial solutions
  • Track record in delivery of complex end to end IT Programmes
  • Track record in managing multiple programme Workstreams’ (Specifically: Business & Ops Change, Architecture, Design, Development, Testing, Migration, Infrastructure & Production Readiness)
  • Proven track record of managing multiple Global Third Party Suppliers
  • Able to drive communication and collaboration across the Virtual Team
  • Able to establish and maintain mutually beneficial relationships
  • Resource planning, allocation and virtual team management
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate and influence in a meaningful way across all levels
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
  • Works Well to Deadlines and under pressure
  • Any other reasonable duties as defined by management
