What is the Smart Meter Programme?

The UK Government has initiated one of the largest ever energy infrastructure programmes to help ensure consumer bills are accurate, tackle climate change, support the transition to a low carbon economy and drive innovation of new smart products and services.

Smart meters provide information that allows better integration of renewable power, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. By decarbonising our energy system, we will dramatically reduce our nation’s carbon footprint.
