Why is Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement (MHHS) being introduced?

The current process relies heavily on estimates of when electricity is used. MHHS will use more accurate consumption data to help:

• Improve billing accuracy across the industry
• Support the growth of renewable energy
• Enable new and more flexible tariff options
• Reduce costs across the electricity system
• Support the UK’s transition to Net Zero
